Instances of communal harmony and peaceful co-existence

Indians, have profound faith in shared heritage, cultural assimilation and mutual tolerance, irrespective of their religious beliefs, which is proved from following instances:

1. Christian Priest’s thanks giving speech at a Kerala Mosque

In a rare gesture of communal harmony, Father Sanu Puthussery of St. Antony’s Church, Achinakom, Kottayam, attended Juma prayer (Vechoor Juma Masjid, August 31, 2018) and delivered a thanks giving for selfless service of Muslims/Imam, Juma Masjid, who had provided food and shelter to 580 Christians rendered homeless/ devastated due to recent flood.

2. Hindus, Muslims traditionally celebrate Janmashtami together

The residents of Kheriya Mod locality (both Hindus and Muslims) in Agra, U.P. have been celebrating jointly the festival of Janmashtami for last 15 years with devotion, fun and fare including hoisting of banners, decorating ‘Jhankis’ and observing the birth of Lord Krishna.

3. Hindus join Muslims brothers to welcome Hajis at Kolkata Airport

As an example of brotherly equations, Hindus joined their Muslim brethren to welcome (Kolkata, September 2) Hajis, who had arrived at the airport after completing Haj pilgrimage.

4. Janmashtami celebration jointly by Hindus and Muslims at a Dargah

At Dargah, Sharif Hazrat Hajib Shakarbarat (Village Narhat, Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan), both Hindus and Muslims have been organising a three day long grand celebration of Janamashtami for their last seven generations with devotion /festivity which include dancing, singing throughout the nights, besides music drama, Qawwali, jagran etc., in participation of locals as well as people from the adjacent states of Delhi, Haryana and Punjab.
